Director’s Report
North Puget Cancer Center has had a year of transitions and change. We said good-bye to Pat Lundin, social worker and greeted Cecilia Meintel, MSW as our new social worker. Pat did a wonderful job and will be missed by the staff and patients at North Puget Cancer Center. Cecilia has done a wonderful job stepping into her new role and is busy meeting our patients and their family members assisting them with their needs.
Radiation Oncology patients have given very positive feedback regarding RapidArc treatments. They find that having the latest technology and personalized care close to home is a real plus for them when they meet the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. We are now also able to treat with Zevalin™ for certain types of low-grade or follicular B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas.
Medical Oncology patients are now able to have therapeutic phlebotomies done here in our infusion center. We started in the midyear to reduce our hours in the medical oncology clinic to 4 days a week, based on utilization of resources and scheduling in the clinic. This was an adjustment for patients and staff and based on feedback from patients and staff we are reviewing that decision, since we are always striving to improve the patient care in our clinic.
As we closeout 2010 and look forward to 2011 the physicians and staff at North Puget Cancer Center continue to be committed to providing personalized, quality, patient-focused care to those we serve.
